How we protect your personal information?

1. All of our systems (software, hardware and processes) are compliant with HIPAA, PIPEDA and PHIPA. All testing is carried out within a CLIA certified lab, and all test panels underwent rigorous validations as required by CLIA.

2. Before your cheek swab sample is processed, it is de-identified and associated with a unique identification code (barcode). There is no Personal Identifiable Information (PII) associated with your sample when it is processed and analyzed in the lab.

3. Your PII is securely collected via online registration, so there is no PII associated with your sample during shipping. Lab policy is to destroy your sample 6 months after processing. This can be done sooner upon request.

4. Your PII and raw genetic data resulting from the processing of your sample are stored in separate, secure databases. Both your PII and raw genetic data are encrypted in-transit and at rest, and stored on servers within Canada.

Will my genetic information be sold or shared to any third party?

In Canada, there is a law (Bill S-201 - the Genetic Non-Discrimination Act) which prevents discrimination based on genetic information. Test results are delivered directly to the patient and/or their healthcare provider, and are NOT delivered to insurers/brokers/employers/etc.

What kind of COVID-19 Tests do you offer?

We offer 4 different types of tests in a licensed lab following ISO 15189 Accreditation standards in the Province of Ontario.

‍1. RT-PCR Testing. Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests on Health Canada Approved Devices. The RT-PCR test is used for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2.

‍2. Lateral Flow (Rapid Antigen) Testing. Antigen Tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of a specific viral antigen, which implies current infection. Antigen tests are less sensitive than RT-PCR tests however they can be used to detect the presence of the virus amongst people who have a high viral load (those who are most contagious).

‍3. RT-PCR Express Testing. The cost for the Express Test is $350 which is much higher than other testing options. We offer this test for those who would otherwise not be able to have emergency surgery or travel and suggest it be used in these types of situations.

Can I add my passport to my test results?

Yes. Several countries around the world require passport information on the test results in order for the results to be accepted. If this is required please email info@wellnesshaus.com after you receive your test results. We will only make the changes once the test has been confirmed negative.

How do you provide results?

We send results to the email address provided during your appointment booking. For personal security reasons we are not able to share your results with any other email than the one you register with at the time of booking. Please ensure your information is correct at the time of booking. If you have provided an incorrect email contact us at info@wellensshaus.com so that we may verify you through other means.

How do I confirm I registered with the right email?

We send appointment reminders to the email on file before your reservation. If you do not receive an appointment reminder it means your email was not entered correctly into our system. If you do not receive an appointment reminder please let our Admin’s know at the time of your appointment and we will make the change for you.

What kind of swabs do you use?

We use deep nasal/mid turbinate swab sampling for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. Deep nasal/mid-turbinate sampling employs a slight variance to the nasopharyngeal sampling that has been the source of much discussion about the discomfort of COVID-19 specimen collection. The actual swab used for a deep nasal sampling is identical to the swab used for NP sampling, it is simply not inserted quite as far, so it is less uncomfortable.

Do you test children?
